A new report from Bahraini Labour Fund and MSB client Tamkeen has demonstrated the organisation’s success at supporting local students, jobseekers, entrepreneurs and businesses in the first six months of 2017. Founded to boost the Gulf Kingdom’s private sector, between January and June of this year Tamkeen supported 8,000 Bahrainis to achieve basic job skills and professional qualifications in order to allow them to compete in the jobs market at home and abroad.
It also launched new programmes and entered new strategic partnerships to support businesses, with the effect that 30% of all new businesses currently being incorporated in Bahrain are receiving funding and/or advice from Tamkeen. One new scheme provides incentives for businesses to create jobs for local people by providing incentives for those which exceed their ‘Bahrainisation’ targets. Welcoming the report, Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Officer, said “Our continuous support to the national workforce comes from our belief in them and in their capabilities to contribute in the Kingdom's economic prosperity. Hence, we make it our goal to create new opportunities that make them grow and prosper and take their place in the overall development process to realize the vision of Bahrain 2030." MSB has been proud to partner Tamkeen on various research and training projects since 2015.
