The CBI has released its annual Employment Trends Survey report on the state of British business. Following feedback from the leaders of 353 large companies, the CBI found that almost half (48%) of organisations see achieving or maintaining high levels of employee engagement as a priority, a rise of 13% since last year. Employers are aware of the benefits that employee engagement can bring to an organisation. More than 3 in 4 (77%) believe it can improve workplace productivity and bottom-line performance, whilst almost 6 in 10 employers link higher levels of employee engagement to increased customer satisfaction and 4 in 10 say it will help them retain talent.
When asked to name the key drivers of employee engagement in their business, 2 in 5 business leaders say that the effectiveness of line managers is the most significant factor, whilst a similar number say company values play the most important role.
