Last month, 500 people attended the annual consultation forum of Tamkeen, a Bahraini government agency charged with developing the Gulf kingdom’s people and private sector enterprises. Forum participants made a range of recommendations, including the need for Tamkeen to diversify its support to cater for businesses of different sizes and sectors, the publication of regular research on gaps in the market, and the provision of business advisory and mentorship services.
By providing grants to entrepreneurs (to grow their business) and individuals (to support their personal and professional development), Tamkeen helps to develop Bahrain’s economy in line with the government’s Economic Vision 2030, which aims to end the country’s reliance on its limited oil and gas reserves. It is on increasing the quality of the kingdom’s human capital that Tamkeen’s latest strategy will focus. MSB in the Gulf MSB has been proud to partner Tamkeen on various leadership, employee engagement and customer service research and training projects since 2015. We have also worked with the kingdom’s Economic Development Board and with a number of private sector organisations.
