The CIPD’s bi-annual Employee Outlook report, which is now in its eighth year, has highlighted four areas that organisations should focus on to improve employee engagement. These include:
1. Employees’ influence over their jobs 2. Use of skills 3. Employees’ motivation 4. Effort to achieve results The study shows net agreement amongst employees that they clearly know their organisation’s core purpose is very high at +78. However, employees that say they are motivated by the company’s purpose is much lower at +35. This is an area that the CIPD highlighted needs improving. Furthermore, almost a quarter (24%) disagree or strongly disagree that their organisation provides them with the opportunity to learn and grow, while 22% said they were dissatisfied with opportunities to develop skills.
