According to a survey of 102 UK employers by job search specialists Totaljobs, 28% revealed that they struggle to keep employees engaged. One possible reason for this is the finding, from the same survey, that fewer than a quarter (24%) of employers have an employee engagement strategy which actively rewards the most proactive and engaged employees.
When asked what approaches they believe would be successful at improving employee engagement, just over half (51%) of employers identified clear employee communications as the right way forward. Almost as many (46%) think the solution lies in setting more clear objectives for individuals and teams and a significant minority (39%) feel that creating a stimulating work environment is an effective way to help engage employees. Matthew Harradine, director at Totaljobs, said, “Our research suggests a real problem for employers. With the employment rate at record highs, it’s never been more important to keep staff engaged, which more often than not results in keeping them happy and retained.” With extensive experience of conducting in-depth employee engagement research, MSB helps our clients to identify their strengths and areas for improvement whilst maintaining employee confidentiality and confidence.
