Brian Hamill, Managing Director
Brian is a graduate with a BA Degree in Business Studies from Robert Gordon’s University, Aberdeen. He commenced his commercial career with Jardine Mathesons in Hong Kong whilst completing a four-year degree program. This presented an early opportunity to travel widely and to explore the fast-moving, entrepreneurial culture of business in the Far East.
On completion of his degree Brian joined British Airways on the airline’s Graduate programme, holding a range of Operations and Marketing appointments both in UK and overseas (Europe, Iran, Gulf States, India).
For two years Brian was a key member of the BA team responsible for negotiating commercial and bilateral agreements with airlines and governments in the Middle East, the Sub-Continent and the Far East.
Between 1983 and 1985 he was responsible for the UK marketing activity of BA’s services to Australia and New Zealand. Throughout this period, Brian travelled extensively to represent BA at inter-airline discussions and negotiations, dealing at Chief Executive and Director level of leading carriers such as Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Air India and Japan Airlines. He was also invited to become a member of the British Caledonian merger team when BA acquired this airline.
As part of the transformation of British Airways spearheaded by Lord King and Sir Colin Marshall, Brian was appointed to head-up the design and implementation of the second and third phases of the airline’s successful “Customer First” employee engagement programme.
This integrated training and communications strategy involved all 50,000 employees worldwide in a drive to improve customer service and to deliver the airline’s vision of becoming “the best and most successful airline in the world”.
In the 21 years with MSB since he co-founded the company, Brian has spent his time working with international blue-chip clients in a range of industry sectors, including the public sector, where he has consulted on a wide range of corporate change, performance measurement, research, organisational communications and training projects, principally at Director level.
Brian is a full member of the Market Research Society and undertakes both consumer and employee research projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients.
He is frequently asked to present at conferences and workshops in the UK and internationally on the subjects of corporate change, employee engagement and training, and customer service.
