A recent study by polling company ComRes, commissioned by BBC 5Live, found that four in five (79%) British workers have a positive view of their job and are proud of their work. The research highlighted differences in job satisfaction by sector, gender and age.
Public sector workers are significantly more likely to be proud of the work they do than those in the private sector (86% v 77%). In addition, women are more likely than men to say they enjoy going into work each day (74% v 63%). Workers aged over 55 are more likely than their younger colleagues to say that the nature of their work is one of the three important factors when considering a job (60% compared to 48% of 35-54-year-olds and 49% of 18-34-year-olds).
